How it Works
Optical sensor on inside surface of windshield using beams
of infrared light.
Operation
Activation switch sets to unit default sensitivity.
Unit automatically controls wipers from full off, through
intermittent, slow, and high speed operation.
Windshield Compatibility
Max windshield thickness: 12 mm -- Almost all cars and light trucks,
many motor homes are compatible with the Rain Tracker RT-50A
Sensitivity Adjustment
The sensitivity of the Rain Tracker RT-50A can be adjusted using
the trimmer potentiometer located on the sensor. For more
sensitivity adjust the potentiometer clockwise. For less
sensitivity, adjust the potentiometer counter clockwise.
Electrical
Nominal 12V operation. 15A current capacity on
interface relays.
Nominal current drain of RT-50 itself with sensor on standard solar-control glass is 20 mA.
The module (with sensor) requires a DC supply voltage between 10 and 16 volts, measured at the supply input.
System will withstand 25V for one minute.
RT-50 System protected against reverse polarity to –25V.
Interface
Drawings for hot and ground side switching wiper systems
included. Drawings for many other wiper systems available
on www.raintracker.com.
Mechanical
Sensor: 1.75" X 1.75" X .75" / 1 oz.
Interface module: 4.45" X 2.45" X 1.15" / 4 oz.
Temperature Range
System (with sensor) operates in ambient air
temperatures between –40 C and +85 C. Sensing of rain not
required below –15 C.
System Behavior
Nominal system power up time: 2.5 seconds.
System does not wipe on power up.
System gives single wiper on activation.
Activation switch input:
Connect to supply for operation at default sensitivity. (A diode from drop is permissible.)
Open circuit to activation switch input for system deactivation.
