Rain Tracker Model: RT-50
Vehicle-Specific Installation Instructions

The instructions included with the product tell how to install a Rain Tracker. This page gives special vehicle-specific information.

These instructions apply to these vehicles, which all have similar wiper systems:

MERCURY CAPRI 91 - 94

Wiring Diagrams and Drawings:

1991 Mercury Capri- also for vehicles with similar wiper systems
RT-50 - HSS (Hot Side Switching)- Included with product
Troubleshooting procedure. Print out if needed.

Wire colors used in this vehicle:

+12V - BLU
GROUND - CHASSIS
FAST - BLU/RED
SLOW - GRN

Special Rain Tracker Installation Notes for this vehicle:

Special note: the slow switch is not directly tied to the slow winding,
however it is tied to a relay that in turn supplies power to the slow
winding. This does not affect the implementaion of HSS.

For wiper systems w/o intermittent the slow may be WHT. with respect to
where the wires are pulled. Should be BRN/WHT if directly off switch.

Write the wire colors of the vehicle on the HSS drawing, and follow that
when you wire up the Rain Tracker. Use the factory drawing as a reference
to help you find the wires.

FIND CHASSIS GROUND
Find a suitable screw or bolt on the metal chassis of the
vehicle for the Rain Tracker ground. Be sure to scrape
away paint as needed for a good connection. If possible,
check the ground connection with a multi-meter. (It should
be at most a couple of ohms.) An alternative source for
ground is the cigarette lighter. (This can also be an alternative
source of +12V power for some applications as well.)
