Special Rain Tracker Installation Notes for this vehicle:
NOTE: If, after installation, the Rain Tracker wipes once upon
vehicle power up, use the alternate installation diagram. The
alternate wiring diagram is for Non-Depressed park wiper systems.
Depressed park means the wipers tuck under the hood.
This vehicle is wiper system class GM-TWM. The intermittent
wipe controller is built into the wiper motor cover, in
a motor/controller combination. The Rain Tracker is installed
between the wiper control switch and the motor/controller.
This is a non-depressed park, or standard wiper system. That is,
the wipers do NOT park below the hood when not used.
All wires except ground are available coming from the wiper
switch. They can usually be accessed by removing one or
two access panels (Kick Panels.)
For the Rain Tracker chassis ground, find a suitable chassis
ground. Be sure to scrape away paint as needed to get good
contact.
MORE THAN ONE WIRE OF THE SAME COLOR
This the vehicle has more than one wire of the same color (for example,
two dark green wires coming from the are of the wiper switch), you
MUST find the right wires. Use a voltmeter to find which wire changes
voltage when you change the setting of the wiper switch.
VENTURE VANS
Some Venture Vans (approx 1997-2001) came with a solar reflective
windshield called "Sun Gate", that is not compatible with the
Rain Tracker. Look for a Sun Gate marking on the windshield. These
windshields have an antenna grid built into the windshield, near
the rearview mirror.
Note that because of the way this system activates the Rain Tracker,
it is NOT compatible with the XC-1 external sensitivity control.
