Special Rain Tracker Installation Notes for this vehicle:
NOTE: These vehicles have a digital switch system and may need to utilize the CAM
feedback feature on the Rain Tracker model RT-50A. Use the instructions below for
DIGITAL SWITCH SYSTEM to see if this is needed. The installation and test for CAM
feedback needs to done at the wiper motor, NOT the wiper switch. This means you will
need to run wires through the firewall.
NOTE: On the Dodge Caliber, FAST - BRN/LT-BLU
NOTE: The 2008 Jeep Wrangler needs the Rain Tracker with cam feedback, RT-50A. On the 08
Wrangler, SLOW - BRN/LT-BLU. It may also be the same on other years of the Wrangler. Check
wire operation with a multimeter.
NOTE: GROUND can also be BLK, BLK/BRN, and BLK/WHT. Check for this. If unsure, use a
good chassis ground.
DIGITAL SWITCH SYSTEM
For some digital switch systems, the software of the body control module can cause the
wipers to occaisionally stop in the middle of the windshield. The problem is that the body
control module does not run the wipers back to home position after the Rain Tracker initiates
a wipe. You can check that the system does NOT exhibit this by:
- Cut the SLOW wiper motor wire where you would install the Rain Tracker.
- With the vehicle running, momentarily connect the motor side to 12V, then back
to the switch side, restoring the original SLOW connection.
- If the wipers run back home, the Rain Tracker should have no compatibility problems. But, if
they stop in the middle of the windshield, that is trouble and CAM Feedback Adapter is needed.
If you find you need to utlize the CAM feedback feature, click on the link above for 2005
Dodge Magnum with CAM Feedback for instructions on installation
Notice: The electrical diagram and the connector diagram from the manufacturer are conflicting.
If the Rain Tracker "doesn't" work correctly, try switching the fast and slow wires.
Write the wire colors of the vehicle on the HSS drawing, and follow that
when you wire up the Rain Tracker. Use the factory drawing as a reference
to help you find the wires.
Some models and years may vary slightly in wire colors. If possible, confirm
wire colors with service guide, and/or with with a multimeter.
